We never used to be concerned about that--often left our front door unlocked or even open when just popping down to the post office or to the grocery store... until our new "neighbors" moved in and began giving trailer park trash a run for the money. *sigh* Now, cars locked at night, front door locked (not worrying about the back door, cos anyone attempting to come in that way will have to kill 2 VERY LARGE and territorial dogs, and getting them both would be problematic... ), etc., cos I don't want to be forced to take 'extreme measures'. (Yeh, I can install surveillance cameras pretty cheaply, but they already know I have pics, recordings and video of their misbehavior to date, and... with a little judicious rumor-mongering I've been able to get them to shut down their flophouse, tie up their wandering dog and cease the past midnight drug and beer parties... Cops were NO help, so I was forced to use the third world county rumor mill. *heh*)
