Thirteen Things I Love/Hate about Winter…. 1. I hate the cold. 2. I hate clearing the snow off my car. 3. I love that I don't have to shovel it (I live in a condo complex, they do it) 4. I hate to drive in the snow. I would like it but there are too many that just don't know how to drive in it and it ticks me off 5. I love to sit on the couch in front of the window and watch the snow fall. 6. I love how it looks after a fresh snow fall before people walk thru it. 7. I hate the icy black/brown snow on the sides of the roads after they have been plowed and it sits for a day or two. 8. I love to sit inside by the fireplace and drink hot chocolate. I just wish I had a fireplace here. 9. I used to love to watch a dog we had, part lab/part shepherd, jump thru the snow and play with it. One year we had almost 2 feet of snow and he would leap like a rabbit thru it. He'd bite the snow and throw it in the air. He loved snow. I miss that dog 10. I used to love to play with my kids, when they were little, in the snow. We used to have snowball fights, make snow angels, build snowmen and I'd pull them on the sled. We used to have so much fun. 11. I love how it's so quiet outside after a snowfall. The snow muffles everything. 12. I hate when the parking lots get icy. 13. I hate when I slip, it hurts my back.

Snow is a very dirty word around town today. We just had a major blizzard and it’s -27 this morning. I think I need to crawl back in bed and pretend that it didn’t snow.
Re: #9 – I wonder if it’s something in the genetic make-up of 1/2 breed shepherds? I’ve had 3 over the years and they’ve all done the same thing you described your dog doing (when playing in the snow).
Since I am from Georgia, I wish for snow! But I understand that it would probably get tiresome if I had to put up with it for long periods of time.

Jane: I remember one year (1979) we were in Florida and were on our way home during a real bad east coast storm that actually caused snow in Georgia.

I am not complaining about the fact that we’ve had very little snow so far this winter. Nope, not complaining a bit.

We haven’t seen any snow here in Toronto. Maybe one sprinkling. I’d say it’s great — a great winter. But, there should be snow, and it should be frigid. The fact that there’s no snow is depressing and disturbing….

I love the snow. I can only one thing I don’t like about it and that is sometimes people are hurt or killed in accidents because of it.
