These places send care packages to our troops or help the troops and their families in other ways. I just wanted to list them. A lot of them are volunteer run and can always use help/donations.
Any Soldier – Requires a deployed military volunteer within a unit to accept and distribute packages
My Little Mailbox – For military dependent children to receive pen pal and small gifts such as stickers and letters
Operation Shoebox – Send a package or a donation (which will be used to help send packages)
Treats for Troops – Homemade cookies
Blue Star Moms – Send a donation and they will send packages
Soldier’s Angels – Request a care package for the troops
Books for Soldiers – Send your used books, CD’s, and DVD’s to deployed soldiers.
Free shipping materials from the USPS – Postal Service Offers Free Shipping Materials for Military Families
Operation Uplink – Free phone cards for hospitalized or deployed troops
Subscriptions for the Troops – You can purchase a magazine subscription to be sent to a solider overseas

I was just thinking about this a few days ago. I’m a mentor and I think this would be an excellent idea! Sending a care package to them. I’ll have them write cards and I’ll supply snacks and miscellaneous items.
Opal: That is a wonderful idea. The troops will love that. Thank you!
This will be our project this coming Tuesday. I volunteer for six mentees we meet ever Tuesday. Great info!
Great blog! I’ll be sure to check it out often. My husband is with the 1/6 Marines in Ramadi.
FYI-I read a news article in the Post that Operation Military Pride is being sued for thousands of dollars for misusing their donation funds. I recently took them off my blog. Love the rest of these though. A few have sponsored my husband at some point during his deployment.
Take care!
Thanks for the list!
Your list is great. I wanted to say a late Happy Birthday to Andi! Small world, Kris’s birthday is April 19, 1984.
Opal: Thank you
Annamary: Thanks for the info.. I’ll remove them too.
Angelika: You’re welcome
nanjan: That’s awesome that Kris’ birthday is the same as Andi’s.
What a great post and a great idea! I am going to try to send some peeps over…
Fab: Thank you! I can always use more readers and the troops over there can always use some love from home
Thanks for the info. I’m going to check some of these out.
Battlerocker: You’re welcome
that’s a nice list of links to help. I’m popping over to have a look myself.
This is a great site and a great idea. I have friends that have gone over and it is always important for them to know that someone cares and I think you are doing a great thing.
Your site is great. My prayers are with your daughter. Thanks for the links!
Good of you to list them. I should try to find some Canadian places like that and promote them as well.
Charlotte, my dear, I have awarded you the Thinking Blogger Award, in part because of posts like this, also because you make me think and finally because you inspire me by your sacrifice as a military mom. Check out today’s post on my blog.

Brian: You commented on the wrong post for this.. lol. But I did get you added! Thank you
Great round up…
As a fellow member of “Blue Star Chronicles” I’d ask that you please pray for some good friends of ours – they just lost a son to a roadside bomb in Iraq yesterday morning. If you would be so kind as to write a note at Bloggin’ Outloud, I’ll have them read your words of encouragement and support.
“Alex” was 21 years old, joined the US Army in 2004 right out of high school, served in Korea and went on his tour to the Middle East last fall.

Thank you, Lyn from Bloggin’ Outloud
Lyn: Thank you and I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s son. It just gives me chills to think about it. I worry about the troops every single day.
