I’m old! I applied for and received my AARP card today. Sigh. I always knew this day would come and I’ve been putting off getting one. But now that I read all of the literature that came with it… this could be a good thing. We can get discounts at motels, which will be great on our way to and from Texas! AARP also uses Travelocity for travel planning and assistance. I could get discounts on vacations, cruises, car rentals too. I just might like being “old”. They give lots of websites to check out too. I just hope I don’t wear out my hard drive checking them all out!

My kids told me ages ago I couldn’t call myself old until I was 40. This week with my 35th birthday they decided I could not call myself old until I was dead. It was a small comfort. I think…

Hi! Great blog. Don’t you now qualify for senior discounts at McDonald’s coffee too? Can’t wait to get mine too (Okay, I can wait). Since old is going to happen anyway, might as well get some perks from it.

Mickie: I don’t know about the coffee at McDonald’s… I haven’t tried. But this AARP thing will come in really handy for motels!
