02 Feb 2008 I Didn’t Fall Off The Face of The Earth
 |  Category: life

My dad's momI got caught in the past. I’ve been buried under searching for ancestors and putting up another site of photos of my ancestors and a bunch I have of people I don’t recognize. I got all these photos after my uncle died and we cleaned out his house to get it ready to be sold. I found boxes upon boxes of old photos. Some had names written on them but a lot didn’t.

Genealogy is quite time consuming and it’s so easy to get lost in the past. I’ve found a whole lot more information that I couldn’t find before. I’ve also connected to 3 other family members while searching. One gave me so much information on my mom’s mom’s side of the family that I could never seem to find in the past 20 years.

The woman who bought the bed will be here shortly to pick it up and I’ll be posting a picture of the spot where the bed once sat… for over a year. Then I need to re-arrange that room.

So I’ll be busy today, but I’ll try to get a couple other posts done that I’ve been wanting to get to.

I for one can attest that Blogging and Genealogy do NOT go hand in hand! Both are so time consuming! 2 yrs ago I was caught up in Genealogy–loving every minute of it–till I realized all my “peeps” were dead! Then I got caught up in blogging–and suddenly I had living “peeps”–and I was hooked! I need to get back into Genealogy though, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have wanted to do genealogy, but something has always got in the way. Now I think that I will have no time for it. I am sad when I think about what history I lost when my grandparents died because I didn’t ask them important questions about them and our family.

Shelli: There is a lot more information on the internet now. It’s a shame though you don’t really have a starting place. Maybe another relative may know something to help you out.

Genealogy is time consuming. I’m fortunate to have relatives who do that, and they have spent countless hours on it.
It’s so interesting and neat to be able to pass that information on to children and when they’re old enough…grandchildren. I have quite a few old pictures, some I know who’s in the picture and some I don’t.

Charla: I really enjoy filling in the blanks and I’ll have something to pass along to my children and grand children.

Don’t you just love finding things out about your family? Especially if there is something you can find out that’s hilarious. I always love the crazy stories I hear from my mom’s side of the family. They remember more of the nutty things she’s done than she does.
