How to drive! It’s like taking your life in your hands just to go 2 miles to the store. Today I felt like there was a target on my car. People seemed to just wait until I was just a few hundred feet from them (with no one behind me) then come right out in front of me. I thought for sure this one guy was going to ram into me for sure. He started out when I was almost right in front of him. I had to slam on my brakes and swerve to keep him from hitting me. Luckily there was no one coming the other way because I ended up in that lane to miss the guy. My purse and stuff flew off my front seat and went all over the floor!

Now if I had done something like that there would have been a cop right there. But of course there were no cops around and this guy gets off scott free. This guy looked back at me like I was the one doing the wrong thing. Some people just have no clue how to drive!

Nothing gets on my nerves more! I have to wonder where or how a lot of people got their licenses?!

I really think there are people out there who drive and never bothered to get a license or they’re driving suspended.

I have to deal with crazy drivers every day. Since my accident 2 weeks ago I am especially nervous when someone gets too close to me, someone tail gates me, someone in front of me applies their brakes as I’m fearful that I will hit someone again. This morning I thought I was going to have road rage with a lady who whipped around in front of me AFTER she kindly let me in front of her since I needed to make a turn. I was dumbfounded that she did it. Such an idiot!!!

People are just unbelievable. I don’t understand why half of them are allowed on the road.

  3. Yesterday I was trying to merge onto the highway and the people in front of me (who did not know how to merge) stopped in the merge lane. Well the great driver behind me who was talking on their cell phone almost nailed me as I slowed down and swerved to avoid the morons in front of me. Good thing my wife and son were not in the car. I have not cursed that much since I was in the infantry.

In NJ it’s illegal to talk on the cell phone while driving. Hubby got a ticket for that (shakes head). It was a $130 lesson for him. He doesn’t do that anymore. It’s surprising how many people still use their cells and drive in NJ.

  4. Charlotte, its bad enough in the Western New York area, we’re visisting friends in Chicago and it’s worse. You take your life literally in your hands every time your on the road here.

We love visiting this City however, its lifestyle is really different from ours. The slow speed in a car seems to be 70….We’ve also noticed its the young kids that drive the fastest….

We’re right near the Casinos in Atlantic City and in the spring and summer the traffic here is horrendous. Between the people coming “down the shore” for the beaches and the people going to the casinos it’s bad. I remember, before casinos, you could cross Rt 30.. meet a friend in the middle.. have a conversation and not see a car. Good luck just trying to cross Rt 30 at all now.

Cell phones are the worst! I used to work for a major oil company and they were very safety conscious. They said road accidents were one of the leading causes of death or injury to employees so they mandated that EVERYONE in the company should not drive and talk on the cell. You could get a call from the VP and if you were driving, the most you could do is answer and tell them you were driving and would have to call them back once you had pulled over.

They also did studies and using a speakerphone or headset doesn’t make it any safer. The fact is that talking distracts you from driving even if your hands are free.
