I went to work this morning and while I was working away about 10:30am I got a phone call. I was told that someone set a fire outside my front door. I rushed home and the police and fire inspectors were here. My door is scorched and it’s been kicked in. My carpet is wet and has sooty footprints all over from the firemen. The firemen tried to open my blinds to open the sliding door to let out the smoke and broke the blinds.
The police told me that they caught someone on the cameras leaving just before the fire was called in. The fire was set on purpose. The 2 pieces of carpet that was outside the door, to wipe your feet on, were destroyed. The door frame and threshold are gone. The inside trim is destroyed. I’m scared to death to stay here now. I’m afraid they’ll do it again in the middle of the night or something. It smells like smoke in here. I need to get out of here!!
The fire department also broke down the door to the condo downstairs because they weren’t sure where the fire started at first.
Right now I’m sitting here with no secure door waiting for someone to come and replace the door. I was told they should be here soon.

UPDATE 12:44pm: OMG insurance adjusters are a bunch of vultures. There have been 2 here in the last hour and a half!

OMG — I am so glad you are okay but I wouldn’t feel too safe there either!
People seriously suck. I’m just so glad that you weren’t hurt!
OMG how awful. I’m glad no one was hurt, I dont blame you for wanting to get out of there. You shouldn’t have to be afraid and uncomfortable in your own home.
((HUGS))
Good grief, Charlotte! Why would anyone do that? I’m glad you and your family are ok. I hope they catch this … arse-enist, this ashhole!!!

That’s terrible! Some people just don’t care about their actions. And do they really feel like they have accomplished something by doing that to you? Is this their mission? So juvenile.

[...] This didn’t make the local news or newspaper but it was a big deal to me. Thursday I was at work and was called and informed that someone set a fire in front of the door to my condo. I rushed home to find a big burned spot and my front door had been kicked open by the fire department. You can read the rest of that story here. [...]

Son of! That is so messed up. Any idea who did it or why? That’s lucky it got reported fast enough that the damage was minor, given what it could have been.
I think you have a right to be afraid really, that is some messed up crap.
