Andi is done with the Army. She told me she’s unemployed for the 1st time in 4 years. She said it’s kind of cool and weird all at the same time. Tomorrow they come and pack up her belongings and she’ll be on her way back east either tomorrow night or Friday.

So now it’s time to come up with a new name here. I’m now an ex Army Mom. How does Vet Mom sound.. since Andi is a veteran? I need to have something good and cool sounding. Help me!!

I just thought… now I have to find a new template too… hmmmm…

This Week’s Hero Was Suggested By Deb

SSgt. Darrell
SSgt. Darrell “Shifty” Power
86 years old from Dickerson County, Virginia
E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division
June 17, 2009
U.S. Army

The world lost one of it’s true heroes a couple of weeks ago. Darrell “Shifty” Powers passed away on June 17 of cancer. “Shifty” was part of the famed E Co/2/506 of the 101st Airborne Division. Easy Company. The Band Of Brothers.

“I loved everything about my daddy,” said Margo Johnson, daughter of SSgt. Powers. “He never bragged about what he did in the war. And for a lot of years, he never even talked much about what he did – unless someone asked him about it. But he truly was a hero to me. Just like he’d been to the people who know him as a soldier in a [mini-series].”

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

28 Jul 2009 OMG that hurt!!!

Last night I bent over and scooped up JoJo with my right arm. As soon as I did that I felt the pain from hell in my arm. I don’t know what I did. It hurt all the way from my shoulder down to my fingertips. I didn’t want to go to the ER so I took 3 Tylenol Arthritis and in about an hour the pain started to subside.

I was able to get to sleep and when I woke up it didn’t feel too bad except that it feels like someone is sticking a bunch of needles in my hand and wrist. My should and elbow are aching now and I did take some more Tylenol. It seems like typing is not helping it at all right now.

I think I’ll just get off the computer and read or something…

26 Jul 2009 Kitty stuff
 |  Category: jojo  | Tags: , , , , , , , ,  | Comments off

I got JoJo some different cat food and treats and she really loves the new stuff. JoJo is a strange kitty.. all I have to do is say the word “treats” and she starts going crazy. She meows and purrs and makes a gargle sounding meow and she doesn’t stop until I put a few treats down on the floor for her. She gobbles them up so fast I don’t think she chews them. I wonder if they make Phenphedrine for cats.. she’s going to get chunky if she keeps this up.

She’ll meow at me and if I ignore her she runs down the hallway and jumps up on the wall then runs back out in the living room and into the dining room and jumps up on one of the chairs. Sometimes after she uses her litter box she’ll sit in the bathroom door way and meow to let me know to scoop out her box.

Sometimes I wonder who the boss is here… goofy kitty or me?

After I close the vertical blinds on the sliding door at night she gets behind them to survey her domain. I get up in the morning and she’s behind them soaking up the sun that comes in.

After I dropped the boys off to their dad I came home and did some cleaning. I got all the trash together and took it out to the dumpster. Some people around here are really pigs. They can’t even get a bag of trash into the dumpster. There was a bag sitting on top of one of the dumpster that had been torn open either by the squirrels or the seagulls and trash was all over the place. There were wrappers, some kind of pills… maybe weight loss pills, cans & bottles that should have been put in the recycling and garbage scatter over the lid of the dumpster.

That was just gross. I went to the other dumpster and put my trash in it. I went back inside and got the dishes loaded into the dishwasher, washed the pots and pans and cleaned the counters. I straightened up the bedroom the boys used and got everything back in order again. Then I sat myself down at the computer and played for awhile.

Andi will be done with the Army in 4 days!! No more 1700 mile trips to Texas for homecoming ceremonies. No more 1700 mile trips to NJ for Andi.. after this last one.

She’ll be going to live in Pennsylvania.. for now. She mentioned something about coming to stay here when it gets closer to time for the baby to be born. I am a little disappointed she won’t be staying here but a 4 hour trip is so much better and easier to do than a 1700 mile trip.

I guess after Thursday I’ll have to change the name of this blog. Anyone have any good suggestions for a new name?

I’m real surprised. This weekend was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. I didn’t get a headache. I didn’t have to yell. But I do have to clean the Price Pfister faucet in the bathroom because it’s covered in toothpaste.

The boys were fairly quiet with a minimum of arguing and stayed, mostly, in the spare bedroom playing their XBox and watching TV. It was actually quite nice and I thanked them for being so good this weekend.

I made them turn off the XBox and get into bed about 9:30 pm and told them they could watch TV until they fell asleep. I did have to tell them 4 different times to be quiet but they were asleep by 10:30 pm. I took them home about 12:30 pm today and now I’m catching up on my work.

Eddie has ADHD and it on 2 different medicines for it. One he takes in the morning and one before bed. It has made a difference. He used to talk back to me and this weekend there was none of that. He says it doesn’t help but the adults can see the difference.
