My daughter was married and her ex-husband was in the Army for about 8 years. He got deployed to the sandbox and when he came home their marriage went downhill. They are now divorced. My daughter joined the Army November 2005. Well… now it’s her turn to go play in the sand . She leaves tomorrow morning… sniff, sniff…

I’ve also recently gotten a job!! YAY!! I’ve also just finally gotten an apartment.. 2 bedrooms – 2 baths! I love it! I finally finished all the unpacking today. It finally looks like home to me

I’ll be using this journal to put down my feelings and news about my daughter and her time in the sandbox.

At work

It’s a wet day at work today. My eyes keep leaking at the drop of a hat… this sucks.

I really hate that the Army is taking my little girl from me.. Andi told me last night that they weren’t taking her, just borrowing her for a little while. I told her that they never asked my permission for them to borrow her.. hahaha.

Well.. back to work. I’ll write more later on.

She Called!

Andi called a little while ago from Newfoundland. She was about to get back on the plane. The poor thing sounded so down and tired! She’s had a long day. She had to be at the base at 5am. Her plane left at 11:30am. She called about 6pm.

This is going to be a long, hard, nerve wracking year! **sigh**

Well… I’m doing a little better. At least I slept last night. Not to say that I’m not worried and scared about Andi’s safety… not only her’s but all of the soldiers over there.

On other things… I’m gonna be a gramma again. My oldest son and his wife are going to have a baby on April 7th!! I moved into a new place the beginning of September and finally got everything all unpacked and put away this past weekend. It finally feels like home

I also got a job the beginning of July! I haven’t been able to work since May 2001 when I injured my back at work. I’m working at the home office of a Halloween store setting up utilities for roughly 300 stores across the country! http://www.spirithalloween.com It was a hectic mess there for awhile LOL

Well off to get ready for work!!

I just sent Andi an email. I know she took her laptop with her, but I don’t know how soon she’ll be able to use it. It’s hard not hearing from her yet. I’m sure she must have made it there safely.. I haven’t heard anything bad on the news, no knocks at the door from guys in uniform, etc.

Well.. short post. I got up late and gotta get moving and get ready for work. Hopefully I’ll have an email waiting when I get home and have more to share

I wrote that I hadn’t heard from Andi and almost an hour later she called as I was leaving for work!! LOL She made it over there safely! She said it’s hot and sandy.. (a whole lot of info, huh?) But I’m so glad she called. I feel much better now. I’ll feel a whole lot better when this year is over with!!

Ok.. now I gotta get busy. I’m doing this on work time!

Busy day

Work was really busy today for a change. Since all of the stores have opened it’s been fairly quiet except for the occasional phone call from a DSM or two with problems with their stores. Today was checking spreadsheets and making sure all the info was in order. Lots of computer time. Plus the other girl was out today and her calls were forwarded to me, so I had to take her calls and take care of those problems too. I hardly had time to breathe!! LOL On the upside it kept my mind from worrying.

Now I’m going to go and hit the sack! I’m pooped!!

I’ve made a couple friends on LJ already. They are both Army moms with deployed sons. It’s great to have someone to talk to and share your worries with. Go and visit them and give them your support!

Nothing new

I haven’t heard from Andi in a couple days. I didn’t really expect to.. I’m sure she’s fine. I just hate that she’s so far away. We are more like sisters than mother and daughter. She’s my best friend and I miss her *sigh*

Well.. on to other stuff. It’s cold (in the 50′s), raining and windy. I think I’m gonna curl up on the couch with a blanket and watch TV and do nothing tonight!

Blog Explosion

I’m in the Battle of the Blogs at Blog Explosion. I’ve battled before with my other blog (that hasn’t been updated in moons!) It’s not that I’m hungry for votes… it’s just that it’s something to do to kill time. I get to read and vote on some pretty interesting blogs. Check it out if you’re looking for something to do.

I was out this morning to take my mom shopping and the leaves are starting to turn colors. Fall can be such a pretty time of year. The reds, yellows, oranges are just so breathtaking. It’s the mess they make when they fall that sucks. But at least I live in a condo and don’t have to worry about raking leaves, shoveling snow, cutting grass, etc!

Condo living can be interesting. Below me are people who have brain injuries. I guess it’s like a half-way house for them. They seem to be harmless and I have no problems with them. There are lots of kids living in this building. It gets really noisy at times with them running up and down the stairs and hallways. I hear people fighting (verbally) and loud music playing (usually when I’m trying to sleep… like last night!!) People who don’t know how to walk quietly but stomp thru their apartment (above me). But a lot of the time it’s peaceful and quiet. I’m a quiet person so I’m sure the people below me hardly know I’m even here! lol. Basically the people I’ve run into around the complex seem to be nice. I just love having my own place again.
