My daughter was married and her ex-husband was in the Army for about 8 years. He got deployed to the sandbox and when he came home their marriage went downhill. They are now divorced. My daughter joined the Army November 2005. Well… now it’s her turn to go play in the sand . She leaves tomorrow morning… sniff, sniff…

I’ve also recently gotten a job!! YAY!! I’ve also just finally gotten an apartment.. 2 bedrooms – 2 baths! I love it! I finally finished all the unpacking today. It finally looks like home to me

I’ll be using this journal to put down my feelings and news about my daughter and her time in the sandbox.

At work

It’s a wet day at work today. My eyes keep leaking at the drop of a hat… this sucks.

I really hate that the Army is taking my little girl from me.. Andi told me last night that they weren’t taking her, just borrowing her for a little while. I told her that they never asked my permission for them to borrow her.. hahaha.

Well.. back to work. I’ll write more later on.

She Called!

Andi called a little while ago from Newfoundland. She was about to get back on the plane. The poor thing sounded so down and tired! She’s had a long day. She had to be at the base at 5am. Her plane left at 11:30am. She called about 6pm.

This is going to be a long, hard, nerve wracking year! **sigh**

Well… I’m doing a little better. At least I slept last night. Not to say that I’m not worried and scared about Andi’s safety… not only her’s but all of the soldiers over there.

On other things… I’m gonna be a gramma again. My oldest son and his wife are going to have a baby on April 7th!! I moved into a new place the beginning of September and finally got everything all unpacked and put away this past weekend. It finally feels like home

I also got a job the beginning of July! I haven’t been able to work since May 2001 when I injured my back at work. I’m working at the home office of a Halloween store setting up utilities for roughly 300 stores across the country! http://www.spirithalloween.com It was a hectic mess there for awhile LOL

Well off to get ready for work!!

I just sent Andi an email. I know she took her laptop with her, but I don’t know how soon she’ll be able to use it. It’s hard not hearing from her yet. I’m sure she must have made it there safely.. I haven’t heard anything bad on the news, no knocks at the door from guys in uniform, etc.

Well.. short post. I got up late and gotta get moving and get ready for work. Hopefully I’ll have an email waiting when I get home and have more to share

I wrote that I hadn’t heard from Andi and almost an hour later she called as I was leaving for work!! LOL She made it over there safely! She said it’s hot and sandy.. (a whole lot of info, huh?) But I’m so glad she called. I feel much better now. I’ll feel a whole lot better when this year is over with!!

Ok.. now I gotta get busy. I’m doing this on work time!

I got home from work today and had an email waiting from Andi!!! *happy dancing*. She’s doing ok and getting ready to move north soon (her words). Of course she can’t give out a whole lot of info in emails and I have to try to read between the lines.. but that’s ok I’m just glad to have heard from her!!!

I got another call from Andi Today is her moving day… *sigh* Off she goes to that other land of sand.. *shudder* But she says she will have internet in her room and her 1st priority when she gets moved in will be to get her laptop hooked up and running She called at almost 6 am her time… LOL I remember when … if I tried to wake her up for school it was like trying to wake up a brick wall.. no response LOL. Times sure have changed.

I started my day cleaning the house *I don’t know why… it’s a mess now! lol *
Then I went grocery shopping.
Then I picked up the grandkids.
We unloaded groceries and their backpacks, pillows, stuff and then they made pictures and letters for mommy
We had lunch and dinner.
Tomorrow after breakfast we are gonna make some chocolate chip cookies!! *yummie!! (drooling)* After I get Andi’s addy I’ll have the kids help me make more cookies to send to mommy.
Right now the kids are in bed… I’ve told them about 5 times so far to be quiet and go to sleep! LOL Make that 6 times.. just had to say it again!! Don’t you just love when kids fight and argue?? **pulling hair**.
I’m playing games online and watching the NASCAR race.. or trying to

Overall it’s been a nice day… But I’ve found I miss Andi more when I have the grandkids over *sigh*

Quiet

I took the grandkids home about an hour ago… now it’s quiet. We made cookies this morning and I’m completely unhappy with them. They taste ok, but they just didn’t turn out right. That’s the last time I follow a recipe exactly!! lol I usually cream the butter first, but this time I did it the way it said on the chocolate chip package.. they came out flat, crispy and run together I gave most of them to the kids to take home with them.

They enjoyed themselves this time. They made stuff for mommy, played games and weren’t bored for a change In fact they want to come back again next weekend! I told them maybe in 2 weeks.. lol.

Tayler lost a tooth eating cookie dough.. how in the world do you lose a tooth eating something soft?? Leave it to kids! Anyway I took the chocolate covered tooth and rinsed it off and put it in a little zipper baggie so she could take it home with her. Eddie forgot his jammies and I had to give him a t-shirt of mine to sleep in. Kody forgot to bring long pants to wear today and had to wear shorts… it’s chilly here! I just shake my head..

But anyway.. we have a bunch of stuff to send to mommy as soon as I get her address over there.

I’m having a down in dumps moment or two right now. I miss Andi.. I miss a lot of things.. I need to stop wallowing in my self pity. I think I’ll go play some games at Pogo.
