30 Jun 2010 Can always use a deal

I love to shop online. It’s so much easier and less stressful than going to a brick and mortar store. I’m not able to do much shopping either way right now but when I do I love to have a coupon. I love to get money off and find a great deal too.

I’d like to get a new Kodak printer because they use less ink and their ink cartridges are so much cheaper than the Epson all in one printer I have now. I found some tiger direct coupons online and will see if they have the printer I’m interested in. If I can’t find that printer there I’m sure I can find a USB drive that I’d like to have. I need some kind of external storage other than a CD.

13 Feb 2010 I feel skinny

As I said in my previous post I bought new jeans and they must have changed the sizing of clothes since I last bought any. I’m just glad I tried them on at the store and didn’t just pick up a size 10 or I’d be heading back to the store again to do an exchange.

It makes me feel like I dropped 4 clothing sizes all without using any fitness equipment to achieve that! I have size 6 jeans sitting in storage that I know I can’t wear because I bought them moons ago when I weighed about 125 lbs. I don’t weigh 125 anymore and will probably not see that weight again. But with the new sizing I almost feel like I weigh 125 again.

13 Feb 2010 Shopping for me.. finally!

Hubby got paid from the plowing he did in during the big storm in December. I needed some new jeans and went to that fancy french department store (Tar-Jay) and picked up a couple pair. I went to get my usual size (10) but when I picked up a pair it looked like I could fit 2 of me in them! When did they change the sizes?? I picked up a pair of size 6 and held them up to me and they looked like they might fit.

I hate trying clothes on at the store but I took them into the dressing room and was shocked that they fit perfectly! The length was perfect.. the fit in the waist was perfect. They fit so good that I picked up a second pair.

I bought a couple other things I needed and headed to the checkout and was pleasantly surprised that I spent under $65. I’m tempted to frame the receipt printed out on the tm-t88iv printer.

I got home and hubby told me I should have picked up a couple more pair of jeans. Maybe I’ll go back later in the week and do that!

31 Dec 2009 Resolution Time
 |  Category: Shopping  | Tags: , , , , , ,  | Comments off

It’s that time of the year that everyone makes resolutions that they either have no intention of sticking too or they just set their standards too high to be able to keep the resolution. What are your resolutions for 2010? I have just 2. I resolve to find a job this year and find a place to live, other than this camper.

I have officially been unemployed for a year now and the economy has made it very hard to find another. Money has been horribly tight and even with great shopping deals that abound this time of year Christmas shopping, for me, was practically non-existent. I always try to compare shopping prices when I shop online…. it’s just the smart thing to do.

I am really looking forward to becoming employed again and feeling back to normal. I just feel so disconnected with everything right now. I need to get my life back to normal, get a place to live, get our things out of storage and start really living again.

Our daughter, her boyfriend and our 4 grandkids will probably be living with us so we will need a nice sized house along with a freezer so we can stock up on things when they are on sale. I would also love to find a place that has nice, new stainless steel appliances. That would be my dream.

I hope all of my readers have a healthy and prosperous New Year!

netbookI was just doing some “window shopping” at Buy.com and checking out what they have on sale. I found a netbook that is only $199.99 that is normally $389.99 and shipping is free. That’s a good deal in my book.

I’d love to have something like that except I wonder if I would be able to read the screen (8.9 screen size) and it uses GNU Linux as it’s operating system. I’ve never used Linux before. Is is easy to use? Is it similar to Windows? $199.99 is a fantastic deal and if you’re a regular reader you know I’ve been talking about wanting a laptop. I’ve posted about it many times on this blog.

It’s lightweight and would fit in a large purse, which I do have, and it says that it boots up quickly which is another thing I like. It does come with a soft cloth carrying case too. It would be great for traveling and won’t take up a lot of room. It has 1gb of memory which will work well for most things I would do on a laptop. It would need more memory if I wanted to play some of the games on it but I’m sure it would be easy enough to upgrade the memory. I did it on the desktop awhile ago and was surprised at just how easy it was to add more memory.

This will go on my wishlist and as soon as I get a real job and can save some money I’ll look into getting one and giving it a try.

18 Jul 2009 Reading is a luxury

booksI used to read books all the time then I got a computer. I rarely ever read books anymore. Books have also gotten expensive. I never used to pay anything over $3.00 for a paperback book. The last time I looked at some books in the store they were $7.00 and up.

I was checking out Buy.com today and found a set of 7 Sookie Stackhouse Novels for $28.97 with free shipping. The books are on sale.. normally $55.93. That’s a savings of $26.96. 7 books would keep me busy for awhile.

These books are by Charlaine Harris and are the books that became HBO’s series True Blood. These are the kind of books I like. I don’t like romance novels or other stuff like that. I like murder stories, ghost stories, supernatural stories, etc… the weird stuff.

I’ve read Stephen King books, V. C. Andrews, Dean Koontz and others. I really love Dean Koontz’s books. Every time I’d see a new one of his books I would buy it as quick as I could. V.C. Andrews had a series of books.. Flowers in the Attic – the Dollanganger series, My Sweet Audrina, Heaven – the Casteel series, Dawn – the Cutler series, Ruby – the Landry series and too many more to name.

I did buy a few V.C. Andrews books a couple years ago from an online store. I should buy some more books and get back to reading.

hubI was just checking out the daily deals that Buy.com has on sale today. I found a 7 port high speed hub that I could use. My computer has 5 or 6 USB ports in the back of the tower and 2 in the front. All those ports are in use. If I need to plug something else in I have to unplug something else 1st… such as I have to unplug my card reader in order to get a video off of the camcorder.

This hub provides data rates of up to 480Mbps.. that’s fast. It doesn’t require any software and the installation is easy.. not complicated. Easy installation is the best! It comes with an AC adapter, USB 2.0 cable and the installation guide. The List Price is $39.99 and it’s on sale for $34.47. And the price after the rebate is only $24.47. Shipping is FREE. That’s what I love the best about Buy.com is a lot of their items come with FREE shipping!!

Speaking of speedy… yesterday I got an email from Comcast telling me that they just doubled the speed of my internet.. for FREE (there’s that word FREE again.. I just love that word). I followed the instructions and rebooted the modem and sure enough I’m zipping my way around the internet faster than ever before. I thought my internet was speedy before but now I need a seat belt and airbags!!
