My baby is 30 today. The big 3 OH.. How is that possible? I’m not that old,.. am I? Now Andi is part of the “Over the hill gang” and she’s not happy about it. lol

That folks was the sound of a bomb being dropped on me. Andi called a little while ago and told me that she’s changed her mind about getting out of the Army. She’s staying in. That just blew me right out of the water. She also said she’ll either being going back to Iraq or to Afghanistan in December or March.

She wants to stay in and get her promotion to E5 (Sgt.) and save money to buy a house when she finishes up her 2 1/2 years.

I’m upset, but she’s a big girl and can do what she thinks is best for herself and her kids. It just means that I’ll be back to having the grandkids every other weekend again and Andi will be here before she deploys again. She’ll be coming here for her 2 weeks R&R too. I was so hoping I wouldn’t have to worry about her going over there again… *sigh*.

Theo, my oldest, just called to wish me happy mother’s day. We were talking about his new job that he starts in a couple of weeks. He will be working for NetJets which is owned by a company that is owned by Warren Buffett. He was telling me that the benefits are fantastic. Theo, Misty and Trey are going to Hawaii soon and are using up their flight benefits with his soon to be ex-employer and will be taking a trip here to NJ at the end of the month. I can’t wait to see them again.. especially Trey. He’s walking really good now and is starting to form words.

Andi sent me a Mother’s day comment on my MySpace page and Kris will be on the road on his way home from seeing his son so I don’t know if I’ll hear from him today or not.

In about an hour and a half or so I’ll be getting the couch and loveseat moved in and all will be well in the ArmyMom household!

After the events of last week I’m so tempted to run away and hide in some vegas hotels for awhile. I really can’t do that because Andi is leaving Texas, on the 13th, and coming home for about 5 days!! YAY!! I so can’t wait to see her. She’s coming home to pick up her kids and take them back to Texas. She really misses her babies and they really miss her.

This weekend… well.. tomorrow now.. I have to get busy and get things straightened up around here and finish cleaning the soot off of everything. I’ve already got the living room and kitchen done. Andi asked me to get porkroll and WaWa hot dogs. I got them this morning.

Getting excited… again

Andi will be leaving to come home for 5 days on the 13th and I’m getting really excited. I haven’t seen her since the beginning of January. I think things are all ready on this end for her visit. On her end it took some budgeting and planning to make this trip. She could have made her ex meet her halfway again but she wanted to come home and see everyone. I’m glad she made that decision. Everyone here misses her so much.

Andi has had her house up for sale for a few months now and yesterday she got the news that she’s under contract now! Settlement is set for September 15th. She’s getting just $4000 less than her original asking price. She’s so excited. This is the last thing, besides the kids, that was tying her and her ex together. That’s one less argument to have. Things will be much better for both of them once settlement is done with.

Andi will soon be merging Checking Accounts with her boyfriend.. or should I say fiancee. Can you see the bare ring finger in the picture in this post? Well.. it’s no longer bare. She’s now sporting a pretty, shiny new engagement ring on that finger. Her soon to be hubby is a medic in the Army too. Andi will also become a step mom to a cute little 4 year old girl.

I haven’t met “J” yet but I may get the chance when Andi brings the kids back up in November. “J” is planning on picking up his daughter and meeting Andi and the kids up here then. Andi and “J” will have a civil ceremony sometime before they ship out to Iraq around the end of the year. While she is over there she’s going to re-enlist and put in a transfer back to the east coast somewhere. “J” will be able to transfer with her since they will be married. She’s hoping for someplace like Maryland. Then she will only be a couple hours from her kids and should be able to come home on the weekends to be with them.

Yes Andi.. I know it’s been about a couple of weeks since this happened and it’s about time I posted about it! I’ve been busy.. what can I say?

Watching Hannah

I’m keeping my eye on Tropical Storm Hannah. As you all know my son lives in Myrtle Beach, SC and Hannah is due to hit in that area tomorrow night. After that Hannah is supposed to barrel her way up the eastern seaboard. We are supposed to have heavy rains and winds on Saturday. I’ll be stocking up on my essentials, cigarettes and soda, on my way to work in the morning so I won’t need to go anywhere on Saturday. I just hope the electric doesn’t go out.

One thing I won’t have to worry about running out of is pet supplements because I don’t have a pet. I hope to be able to move soon and then I’ll get a pet.

I don’t have to worry about Andi and any storms. She’s out in the Mojave desert for the next month at NTC. Wasn’t nice of the Army to send her to the desert for training?… not! She has someone staying at her house to care for her kids. It’s the mother of a good friend of hers that volunteered for that job.

Out of touch

Andi went to NTC (National Training Center) in the Mojave desert in California about a week or so ago. Starting in the morning she will be “in the box” and out of touch with her kids and me for the next 2 weeks.

Andi is hating the desert and misses her kids something fierce. I had been talking with her on Yahoo by her phone. She won’t be able to use her phone once she’s “in the box” beginning tomorrow morning. I hate being out of touch with her.

Gramma again

I’m a gramma again.. well.. actually I have a grandkitty now. Andi bought the kids a kitty and she’s a cutie. She’s 8 months old and she was named Johanna by her previous owners. They’re going to change her name and until they decide on a new name for her they are calling her JoJo.

I posted the other day about my new grandkitty. Well.. I may be babysitting her for a year while Andi deploys to Iraq the end of December. I say “may” because Andi was supposed to have surgery on her shoulder and her command said no. They would rather have a soldier who is not at 100% than one who is. I don’t understand them. But now she has to go back to the same ortho doctor and get him to evaluate her and say whether she is fit to deploy. He’ll probably say she isn’t but we’ll see whether or not her command will still make her deploy. They could have had her stay in the US, get her surgery, then deploy a couple months later and now they might not have her deploy at all.

Anyway.. back to the kitty. If I do have her here for a year I won’t be getting a kitty of my own until after the deployment. I’ll have to make sure the place is kitty proof.. like hiding the HDMI cables so she won’t chew on them and keep anything that could hurt her put in a safe place. Andi should know something in the next week or so
