Ever since I moved in here I’ve had a bunch of boxes full of Andi’s stuff stored in my master bedroom closet. Today they aren’t there anymore! I pulled out all of the boxes and right now they are in the spare bedroom. Next weekend hubby is going to take them all to the transfer station. This is all stuff that Andi went through before she moved her stuff to Texas. She doesn’t want any of this stuff anymore. It’s about 10 boxes worth or so. I feel like I’m getting ready to move to some Wilmington NC real estate.

Earlier this morning I went to CVS. They had a good sale going on. I bought a 12 pack of Cottonelle, 2 tubes of toothpastes, 2 packs of Twizzlers, 2 boxes of Loreal hair dye, mustard and barbecue sauce all for under $25.00. The Frenches mustard and the barbecue sauce were only .66 cents each!

I used to just buy things as I need them, now I’m starting to look for sales and get stuff I always use when they’re on sale.

I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot today and it’s not quite 11 am!

I’m finally done going through all of the boxes Andi left here. I threw out the trash, recycled the pieces of papers and shredded what should be shredded. The empty boxes went to the recycle bin too.

I found a few things to keep. There were some notebooks with a lot of empty pages, some small envelopes, some large envelopes, some ink pens and a bunch of sticky notes. My bedroom looks like a bedroom again. It looked like a yard sale exploded in my room.. now it’s all nice and clean.

Now I have to get hubby to take apart a couple dressers that are shot and take them down to the recycle bins. They got ruined when they were stored in a shed. They got wet and moldy. I cleaned the mold off but they’re still ruined.

I still have boxes that have never been unpacked from when I moved in here over 2 years ago. I brought boxes that hadn’t been unpacked from the move before this one. I went though those boxes and threw out a lot of stuff. I found broken pencils, an old box of over the counter diet pills that expired years ago and pieces of paper with phone numbers on them but no names.

Why do we hang on to stuff like that? Oh.. I know why. We all say “maybe I’ll need that some day. I’d better hang on to it.”. That day never comes and we end up with a big mess that we end up throwing out anyway. I’ve been trying to avoid that lately. I look at things and ask myself “do I need this? Do I use it regularly? Do I know anyone who needs it? Is it valuable?”. If I answer no to these questions then out it goes. I’m tired of being a pack rat.

Andi just left to go back to Texas. She’s going to be stopping in Myrtle Beach to have breakfast with her brother and his girlfriend in the morning. On Friday she’s getting married in a civil ceremony. Her hubby to be is a medic at Ft Hood also. Andi will be deploying the middle of this month and her hubby to be is deploying a couple weeks later.

When she gets back to Texas she has a lot to do, besides getting married… She has to finishing packing up all her stuff and move it all into storage. She’ll have a lot of boxes and furniture, but no Moroccan furniture. Then J will have to pack up his stuff from his house and move that into storage too. It will all be stored for the next year.

So there’s going to be a lot more posts about Andi and J coming in the next year. I hope ya’ll are ready for that!

I’m also going to be doing some shopping for some slip covers… finally. My white couches are starting to turn gray looking. I’ve seen all types from plain to some that make it look like you have Moroccan furniture. When I decide which I want and get them I’ll post a picture.

My new desk arrived this morning in 2 boxes. I heard the sound of a handtruck banging up the stairs and I looked out my peephole in the door and saw the FedEx guy coming up to the door. I opened it and said hello to him. He looked at me, exhausted and grinning, and said “Don’t you hello me!”. One box weighed 84 lbs and the other 87 lbs and he had to bring them up to the second floor. He was very nice and brought them inside and I tried to give him a tip for all his hard work. He refused it saying it was his job.

I got the boxes opened and took out all of the pieces and got to work putting it together. There are 27 steps to follow. I got as far as step 17 and had to stop. The instructions say to “carefully turn desk over to the front (it’s on it’s back now). It’s very heavy so I have to wait until hubby gets home and can help me turn it over. Meanwhile I’ll but the drawers together so they will be ready to put in when the desk is finished.

JoJo checking out all the parts.

Just started putting the pieces together.

This is where I had to stop.

Another picture of what I finished. This is the hutch part.

On other news … I talked to Andi this morning and she was in Ireland on a layover!! She’s on her way back to Texas… Finally!!!

At Buy.com there is one on sale and it’s 75% off.

I want the Brother PT-1880 Deluxe. It’s on sale for only $19.99. It prints in 2 different fonts, allows you to preview and correct mistakes so you don’t waste tape, save up to 5 often used labels and prints up to 3/4 inch labels. It has a Qwerty keyboard, prints on something like 50 different laminated indoor/outdoor tapes and runs on either 6 AA batteries or with an AC adapter (sold separately).

I can find thousands of uses for the Brother. I have boxes in my closet that I have sorted different things into and labels would look so much nicer than having to write on each box. They would be good for labeling shoe boxes.. I could put the type and color of shoe so I wouldn’t have to open each box to find what I want. I could label my boxes of Christmas items so I know at a glance exactly what is in each box instead of having to look through several boxes to find the one item I’m looking for.

They would also be good in the kitchen to label canisters, plastic containers with the contents. These would really be good for anything you put in the freezer. You can mark it with the date it was frozen so you know when you have to use it by.

These would make it easy to label CDs that I’ve been saving files, pictures and other things from my computer on.

I could think of a lot more uses for these labels but then this post would just go on and on and on.

I have a few boxes and decided to start on my <del datetime="2009-08-28T15:32:49+00:00">clutter</del> china cabinet. I had the door opened and was taking stuff out, wrapping it and putting it into a box when JoJo jumped up and started taking a stroll through the cabinet… meowing the whole time. If my batteries, for my camera, had been charged I would have taken a picture.

That cabinet hasn’t been opened since I got JoJo so I guess she was curious as to what was in there.. She’s such a goofball.

I heard from Andi this morning too and her and the baby are doing fine and could possibly be going home tomorrow.

Andi has a lot of baby things to get rid of. Benton is now 15 months old as of today and is growing like a weed. She still has all of his clothes and toys from when he was an itty-bitty. It’s getting way to cold outside to have a yard sale and the garage isn’t heated.

I went through stuff I brought here with me when I moved in and threw out a lot of stuff. My sis-in-law has a lot of stuff in boxes here that she needs to go through. I’m willing to bet that there are even Baptism invitations in one of those boxes from when my kids were baptized. She doesn’t seem to throw anything out. But that’s not my problem. She has the house up for sale and really needs to go through stuff and get rid of things. She still has boxes packed up from when she moved into this house about 10 years ago.
