Almost Spring

It’s almost spring and that means it’s almost spring cleaning time. I need to get my closet organized again. That means pulling everything off the shelves, going through all the boxes, throwing out what is no longer needed and putting Primera labels on the boxes and re-organizing the shelves.

It’s also the time to pull out the furniture and vacuum under it, clean the blinds, wash the windows (thank goodness I only have 5 windows in this place) and just do a general heavy duty cleaning. This place needs it now that my back and shoulder are really beginning to feel so much better.

I’m going to make a list of everything that needs to be done and check each one off as I do it. At least that’s what I say now… we’ll see what happens!

Busy Day

I’m having a busy day today. I got up and got a shower and then we had to go get our taxes done. That was a bummer.. we owe. Maybe next year that will be different. I came home and did some posting on my other blogs and now it’s time to get moving and get some housework done. I need to get the dishwasher emptied and filled up again (I wish it could do that itself!). I have to clean the bathrooms, including the bathroom faucets, straighten up the bedroom and living room and then I’ll sit here and play some games.

Yeah.. boring post.. I know.

I’m Tempted

I took down the plastic covering the fluorescent lights above my kitchen cabinets to clean them. It’s so much lighter in the kitchen without those plastic covers (they are so yellow they won’t get white anymore).

I’ve asked hubby to go get some new plastic to put up there but I should just do it myself.. it will get done quicker if I do!

Update: Hubby came home from work and saw how much brighter the kitchen is without those covers up and he’s going to get new plastic to put up there! **I win!!**

Another Boring Housework Post

Warning… this is another boring housework post! hehehe

Yesterday I cleaned the bedroom and stripped the bed. I sprayed the mattress with Febreeze to get some residual cigarette smoke smell out of it. I looked at the mattress and wished it was a memory foam mattress instead of the nasty looking thing that it is. I hauled the sheets into the laundry room and gave them a good washing.

After I climbed into bed last night I buried my nose into those nice clean sheets and drifted off to sleep to the smell of fresh, clean sheets instead of ones with cigarette smoke infused in them and dreamed of having a brand new, cloud soft mattress.

I’m always talking about cleaning. I guess that’s because that’s something that just never ends. It’s just a part of life. It would be so nice if you could clean something and it would stay that way forever. That will never happen though.

I was going through a box that has moved with me from place to place for a number of years and I found and old book that was titled “how to lose weight“. I think it was from the 1970′s. I also found some old, yellowed papers with notes scribbled on them. I only found a couple things worth keeping and tossed the rest.

I’m slowly going through things and clearing out the clutter. I know I’ll never be “clutter free” but I’ll, at least, get it cut down a bit.

Busy weekend

I have lots to do this weekend. I have floors that need scrubbing, windows that need cleaning, lots of straightening up to do, laundry, and a whole lot more. I’ll be a human dynamo, a female fat burner in action.

This place needs a top to bottom cleaning and I’m gearing myself up to do just that. Part of it will be to get ready either to babysit JoJo or get a kitty of my own. One way or another I’ll have a kitty in this place. I’ll probably wear myself out and be asleep early.

I’ll even be pulling the furniture away from the walls to vacuum behind and under it. This place won’t know what hit it. The shame of it is that the floors, counters and other things are so old that even heavy cleaning won’t help how they look. I wish my landlord would do some remodeling here. He owns other places in this building that are empty right now and he is having them remodeled. This place was built about 1984 or 1985 and everything is original and not in the best shape. Oh well.. I’m just happy to have a roof over my head at this point.

Heavy Duty

Yesterday I did heavy duty cleaning. I bought a can of Spot Shot, a new Swiffer mop and duster. Then I used the Spot Shot to get rid of the spots left by the firemen when I had the fire in front of my door a couple months ago. I thought that after those marks dried I could just vacuum them up.. but that didn’t work so I had to get the Spot Shot. Then I cleaned my refrigerator, inside and out, and my counters and finally the floor. I did the same with my master bathroom.. top to bottom cleaning. I thought of looking into housecleaning franchise opportunities then thought better of it.

I was so tired by the time I got done. Then I got up this morning and started on my bedroom. I’m doing laundry, putting clothes away and clearing junk off the tops of the dressers too. I have to do the same with the living room. I have stuff on the coffee table and end tables that need to find a home. I also need to empty out my “to file” basket and file all that stuff.. it’s overflowing!

I’ll save the second bathroom for another time since it rarely gets used and doesn’t need a whole lot of cleaning done to it.

Time to get back to work… I just sat down to rest for a bit and did this post while resting. Now I have to get finished! Have a great Sunday everyone!

Blahish day

Today is a windy, warm, cloudy, misty and basically nasty day out. I had to go to CVS and pick up a prescription refill and I also got some Gold Bond ultimate lotion to try out. I can see a difference with just one use so far.

I also stopped at WaWa and got some smokes and my hazlenut/mocha steamer (16 oz). I think the coffees at WaWa are so much better than coffee you get at coffee franchises and they’re much cheaper too.

Now I’m doing laundry, emptying the dishwasher, cleaning bathrooms, etc.. such a fun day.. don’t you think? *NOT*

I just finished up cleaning off my microwave stand so I could put all of my appliances on the shelves. It only took a few minutes. It looked messier than it was.

After less than 10 minutes it looked like this:

Now I even have room for another appliance or two. I didn’t just shift the stuff on the shelves to someplace else. I actually went through everything and either found a home for the stuff or tossed it out.

Andi leaves Texas in 6 more days to bring the boys up here to their father and take Tayler down to Texas for the summer. I can’t wait!!

I’ve been busy today getting the spare room cleaned up again. I stripped the bed and washed the sheets and comforter. I sprayed fabric freshener on the mattress and pillows. I dusted the furniture. Now all I have to do is make the bed and vacuum.

I haven’t seen her since January when we took the boys down to her. She was barely pregnant then and now she says she’s big and fat. As if she’d ever get big and fat… she’s a skinny thing.
