Gramma again

I’m a gramma again.. well.. actually I have a grandkitty now. Andi bought the kids a kitty and she’s a cutie. She’s 8 months old and she was named Johanna by her previous owners. They’re going to change her name and until they decide on a new name for her they are calling her JoJo.

JoJo has got to be part dog. She has toys and if you throw them she fetches them and brings them back to you to throw again and again. She also loves to get on the bathroom counter and drink water out of the faucet in the Kohler sinks. It’s not like she doesn’t have water in her bowl.. she’d rather drink from the faucet. See?

I’ve have never seen a cat as goofy as this one. When she’s done drinking her water she’ll come out of the bathroom and meow to let me know that she’s done. She keeps me laughing!

Time on my hands

As of December 26th I’ll have a lot of time on my hands. That’s my last day at work for the season. I’ll probably be going back again in June. So I’ll have a lot of time on my hands to do some Relacore reviews and other stuff. I just hope I can get enough work to keep me busy and help out with my loss of finances.

I know JoJo will keep me hopping. Just a few minutes ago a squirrel was on my balcony and JoJo saw it. The cat FREAKED OUT!! She tried to bash her way through the sliding glass door then she turned and ran away. Her tail was swishing this way and that and she growled. It was actually quite funny. Andi had told me that JoJo has never seen a squirrel before. Now JoJo keeps going back over to the door and looking for that little intruder.

This morning JoJo was laying quietly and was nice and calm. I picked her up and proceeded to trim her nails. They had gotten quite long and were getting snagged in things. The nails on her back paws weren’t too bad but her front paws had begun to curve inward and I was afraid they would hurt her. The other day she got caught on her scratching post and had a really had time getting her claw unstuck on her own.

She laid calmly in my arms, for the most part, and let me trim her nails. Her nails are basically clear so I could see just how much I could safely trim without making her nails bleed. I only cut of the sharp points.. maybe an eighth of an inch. I’m very proud of JoJo for staying so calm. She didn’t cause me any battle scars from the trimming. I gave her lots and lots of praise… telling her how good she was.

I feel so bad

This morning JoJo went and peed on the carpet in the dining room and I got mad at her. I picked her up and rubbed her nose in the pee spot and yelled at her. I couldn’t understand why she did it. I clean her litter box every day so this doesn’t happen. After that she disappeared and I found her under my bed hiding all the way in as far as she could get and wouldn’t come out.

Poor JoJo was terrified and looked like she was contemplating trying to find instant term life insurance. She looked like she was afraid I might kill her. I feel so bad. I finally got her to come out from under the bed and now she’s hiding on one of the dining room chairs and won’t come out.

I really didn’t want to make her afraid of me.. I really didn’t. I’ve never seen her act like this before. I’ve yelled at her before for scratching the furniture instead of her scratching post and he never acted like this. I don’t want her to hate me or be afraid of me.

I guess she just needs some time to get over it. I keep talking to her quietly but it doesn’t seem to be helping.

Jumping JoJo

JoJo has been freaking out today and running off and hiding. It’s not because of anything I did or she did. Today, for some reason, fighter jets have been flying over our condo. Usually we hear no planes whatsoever. I guess the flight patterns had to be changed for some reason.

There is a fighter interceptor group at the airport several miles away. In our old house we were right in the flight pattern and we could look out our skylights and see the pilots faces.. that’s how low they flew over.

It’s the 1st time JoJo has heard the jets and she ran like the wind to hid. I guess that’s just as good as giving her best diet pills in the world. Uh oh.. I hear another one coming. JoJo is getting ready to take flight herself. I don’t know what she’ll do when we start getting thunderstorms!

I had to take a video of JoJo last night as she was playing fetch with her mouse. This video came out pretty good considering the low light. The laughter you hear in the background and the feet you see later in the video belongs to hubby.

She’s so lazy

JoJo has gotten to be very lazy. She sleeps all day long. Right now she’s curled up in her bed sleeping away. It seems as though all she does is eat and sleep. She’s starting to gain a little weight too. Soon she’ll need some weight loss pills in a kitty version or a kitty treadmill.

She used to want to play late at night and would meow and meow for someone to play with her. The past 3 nights in a row there has been no meowing at night. She just comes in the bedroom and hops up on the bed, on my feet, and goes to sleep.

It’s not that she doesn’t have her playful periods. They just aren’t as often as they used to be. She’s not as kittenish as she used to be.. she’s growing into a cat. She still plays with her toys in the evening and gets goofy running all around. Maybe she’s just become calmer in her “old” age.

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

That is what I heard about 8am this morning. I opened up the blinds in my living room and saw about 5 or 6 wild turkeys outside. There were 2 male (tom) turkeys and the rest were females. I’ve seen the females around here several times over the past 3 years but I’ve never seen the male turkeys.

JoJo was so shocked to see them that she never even uttered a sound. She just sat there staring at them. Those birds were huge. If you click on the picture at the top of the post you’ll see JoJo staring at the turkeys. You can see one of the females in the picture too. Below is a picture of some of the turkeys right below the window. The males were all puffed up with their tail feathers showing in their full glory.

JoJo meets squirrel

Earlier today someone threw some cookies outside on the ground. There were birds swooping down to get them. 1 squirrel managed to grab a cookie and climbed up the downspout and climbed onto our balcony. JoJo tried to get at the squirrel and banged her head into the glass in the sliding door. The squirrel ran off leaving his cookie behind.

Later on this morning he came back and started eating his cookie (if he eats any more cookies he’s going to need some good fat burning pills lol). I grabbed the video camera because JoJo was really freaking out. The video is below. Be sure to watch the middle and the end and you’ll see the squirrel do something really unexpected. The picture above is a hint.

JoJo has been laying in front of the sliding door all day just waiting for her “buddy” to come back. I got a real good laugh out of that. I sure needed it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
