Busy today

Today I have to do a lot of running around. 1st I have to go to the bank and make a deposit. Then I have to go to WaWa and get a couple things. Then the laundromat… *YUK*. Then to CVS and get hubby’s meds refilled. Then to Shoprite to get some lunchmeat and cheese.

Then I’m sure Andi will need to go somewhere so I’ll have to run out again. Sometime today I also have to get gas in the car.

So now I need to get dressed and get moving. Have fun today everyone!!

Mini rant.. sort of…

I went to ShopRite this morning grabbed my cart and then grabbed a wipe inside the store to wipe down the handle of the cart. I don’t normally do that, although I should, but I did it today because there have been reports of that Swine Flu here in NJ now.

Now for the mini rant part. The carts are outside and the wipes are inside. Shouldn’t they be in the same location so you can grab a wipe before you put your hands on the cart? Who know what kinds of germs are crawling all over those carts. I sure as heck hope that moms with little ones clean off the handle before they put their little precious in the cart.

Anyway.. I found everything I was looking for except for industrial equipment supplies (but I wasn’t looking for them anyway) all in one place. My mom is going to be coming to stay for a few days to give my niece a break and I needed to get her a clock and a night light. She’s almost 89 and doesn’t see well in the dark at all. I just remembered that I needed a night light for the bathroom and I only picked up one…grrrr!! Oh well.. I’ll go back out tomorrow and pick up another one. More about mom in another post to come soon!

Red and Blue

I didn’t forget the white.. although there is white in this post.. as in cop cars. This morning I went to ShopRite to pick up a couple things I forgot yesterday when I picked up stuff for Thanksgiving dinner. As I pulled into the parking lot I saw a cop car in front of the store. As I got closer to the store there wasn’t just 1 cop car… there were 6!!! There were no cops in the cars or outside the store so I went in and did my shopping all the time looking for all of the cops. I didn’t see them.

I picked up my items and checked out and as I was walking back to my car the cops come out of the store with a guy in handcuffs. I wonder what this guy did? He looked pretty roughed up. His clothes were a mess and so was his hair. Did he try to battle someone for a turkey?? It had to be something really bad that he did to have 6 cop cars show up! I guess I’ll never know what happened unless it happens to make it into the newspaper tomorrow.

Accident in Absecon

There was an accident at the Shoprite in Absecon last night. A 30 year old woman was driving drunk and hit the store and 3 people.. 2 of which were in wheelchairs.

The link to the story above doesn’t have a lot of information but here is an excerpt from our local newspaper.

An allegedly drunken driver plowed into the entrance of the ShopRite supermarket Tuesday evening, hitting three people, including two in wheelchairs, police said.

Sharon M. Eberwine, 30, of Absecon, was driving west in the center lane of the parking lot at 6:15 p.m. when she drove onto the sidewalk, hit the building and several shopping carts, police said. The car then returned to the parking lot, spun around and came to rest on the sidewalk in front of the store entrance.

The car struck three people, two of them in wheelchairs, police said. All the victims were taken to the Regional Trauma Unit of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. Their names and conditions were not available at press time.

The car came to rest at the entrance of the store, its front end pushed into a mailbox crushed by the impact. Two smashed wheelchairs lay nearby, shopping carts were overturned and potted plants were strewn about the area. A grocery bag with fresh fruit and bottles of iced tea and vitamin water was dropped next to the car, and the wind blew some of the bottles into the parking lot.

She was drunk! What did she do.. get all boozed up then decide “oh.. I need to go grocery shopping”? She just barely missed hitting another woman who’s grocery cart was demolished and she lost $100 worth of groceries. She ran back into the store to avoid being hit. The people in the wheelchairs were mentally handicapped people who were being taken shopping by their caretaker.

This time I’m not talking about gas prices. I just came home from Shoprite and I knew I was in trouble the minute I started shopping. I was in the produce department and I overheard 2 clerks talking to a 3rd clerk. They were just handed new prices to put up. I heard one say “$1.00? Things are really getting expensive. It used to be we’d raise prices by pennies now it’s by dollars.” I continued on with my shopping and I picked up 22 items. I roughly estimated $50 to $60 for them. Boy did I underestimate! Those 22 items came to $86.82 with my coupons and using my Price Plus card.

The prices of everything is getting totally out of control. There is only 2 of us. I can’t imagine how a large family can afford to buy food. I remember when we were 1st married (1972) I would spend $15 to $20 a week on food. I took hubby with me once and we spent $50. I told him he wasn’t allowed to go shopping with me anymore! Between fuel and food prices we need to get another job!
