13 Feb 2010 Shopping for me.. finally!

Hubby got paid from the plowing he did in during the big storm in December. I needed some new jeans and went to that fancy french department store (Tar-Jay) and picked up a couple pair. I went to get my usual size (10) but when I picked up a pair it looked like I could fit 2 of me in them! When did they change the sizes?? I picked up a pair of size 6 and held them up to me and they looked like they might fit.

I hate trying clothes on at the store but I took them into the dressing room and was shocked that they fit perfectly! The length was perfect.. the fit in the waist was perfect. They fit so good that I picked up a second pair.

I bought a couple other things I needed and headed to the checkout and was pleasantly surprised that I spent under $65. I’m tempted to frame the receipt printed out on the tm-t88iv printer.

I got home and hubby told me I should have picked up a couple more pair of jeans. Maybe I’ll go back later in the week and do that!

21 Nov 2009 Relaxing day

DSC03210Yesterday was a gorgeous day out. It was warm, for this time of year, and there was a little bit of a breeze. Andi, Drew, Benton and I went to Ocean City and took a walk on the beach. We picked up seashells so Andi can make a nice little shadowbox for Benton.

We saw what the last 4 day nor’easter did to the beaches and it really made a mess of them. Most of the dunes have been washed away and a lot of the wooden ramps from the boardwalk were closed because of at least a 6 foot drop down to the beach from the missing dunes.

There were a few other people walking the beach using metal detectors, collecting shells and even a couple surfers. I forgot just how calming and relaxing the sound of the waves can be. I could have sat on the rocks for hours and just listened to the waves crashing.

Benton enjoyed his first trip to the beach. We had him bundled up with his little animal/bear hat on to keep his head warm and a warm blanket. But the sun was warm and the breeze wasn’t too bad until we started back up the beach to the car. But other than that it was a great day.

Enjoy the pictures below.

04 Sep 2008 Watching Hannah
 |  Category: weather  | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,  | 9 Comments

I’m keeping my eye on Tropical Storm Hannah. As you all know my son lives in Myrtle Beach, SC and Hannah is due to hit in that area tomorrow night. After that Hannah is supposed to barrel her way up the eastern seaboard. We are supposed to have heavy rains and winds on Saturday. I’ll be stocking up on my essentials, cigarettes and soda, on my way to work in the morning so I won’t need to go anywhere on Saturday. I just hope the electric doesn’t go out.

One thing I won’t have to worry about running out of is pet supplements because I don’t have a pet. I hope to be able to move soon and then I’ll get a pet.

I don’t have to worry about Andi and any storms. She’s out in the Mojave desert for the next month at NTC. Wasn’t nice of the Army to send her to the desert for training?… not! She has someone staying at her house to care for her kids. It’s the mother of a good friend of hers that volunteered for that job.

10 Aug 2008 Fun stuff

We’re in the middle of yet another thunderstorm and I hear banging and yelling from downstairs where the brain injured men live. Evidently the 2 caretakers were outside having a cigarette and one of the men locked them out. For a good 5 minutes they were banging on the door calling for one of the men to open the door. He finally opened the door and started throwing tissues, jars of acne creams and other stuff at them. It seems as though they finally got him calmed down and I’m surprised the caretakers handled it well. The woman caretaker just talked to him calmly asking him “why did you do that baby?”. I just hope this isn’t the beginning of more problems down there. It’s been peaceful since the chanter left.

31 May 2008 I think we’re safe

We just had some nasty storms roll through. It got as dark as night, almost, and poured and thundered and lightninged. Looking at the radar it looks as though the worst is over.

I think they need to clean the gutters!

On another note… the 1st tropical storm of the season has formed.

MIAMI — The first storm of the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season has formed near the coast of Belize.

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Arthur formed Saturday afternoon and is already moving inland.

The Mexican government has issued a tropical storm warning from Catoche south to the border with Belize, and tropical storm conditions are expected within six to 12 hours.

At 1 p.m. EDT the storm’s center is located about 45 miles north-northwest of Belize City. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 miles per hour.

The storm is expected to weaken Saturday as it moves over land.
